My father, Bill Cooke passed away on February 6th, and one of his favorite places in the world was Spoon's BBQ, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Founders Bill and Marie Spoon where my parent's close friends, and I grew up with their sons Steve and Mark. So after my dad's passing Marie invited us over to the restaurant, and I couldn't think of a better place to honor my dad's memory. So our entire family headed over to Spoons after the funeral, where we had a great time of BBQ and memories of my father.
Spoon's is the perfect place for classic Eastern NC style BBQ. Founded in 1963, they know a few things about pork. They cook the whole pig, and it's totally a pork place that features Brunswick Stew, mustard based slaw, and all the fixin's like Banana Pudding. If you've only had Western style que, then you need to make a stop at Spoons next time you're in the Carolinas. It's a great experience, and they'll certainly take care of you. Tell them Phil Cooke sent you...
